Social and Personal Melba Whittemore Is Bride of F. Slaght at Pretty Home Wedding Before an altar improvised of wild Poses, peonies, and oak branches, Miss Melba Maurine Whittemore, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. A. A. Whittemore, Bismarck, became the bride of Ford Slaght, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Slaght, Towner, at a pretty home wedding at 9 a. m. yesterday. The Rev. Paul 8. Wright of the First Pres- byterian church read the service. The bride entered on the arm of her father, while Mrs. R. E. Morris played the bridal chorus from Lohengrin. She wore a gown of white georgette over flesh crepe de chine, fashioned with close-fitting bodice and long, un- even hemline. The bridal veil was of shell pink silk tulle flowing from a cap of point lace caught with lilies-of-the- valley. Her flowers were Ophelia roses and lilies-of-the-valley, and a necklace of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom, was her only ornament. Miss Blanche Whittemore, sister of | the bride, was her only attendant. Miss Whittemore wore organdy in pink and orchid and carried an arm bouquet of pink and white peonies. C. R. Slaght, brother of the groom, acted as best man. Mrs. Herman Scheffer, under whom. the bride studied voice for two years, sang two solos immediately preceding the ceremony. They were: “A Mem- ory” (Park) and “The Summer Wind” (Bischoff). Twenty-four relatives and close friends of Mr. and Mrs. Slaght were guests at a wedding breakfast served after the ceremony. A huge wedding cake formed the centerpicce at the bride’s table, while a color scheme of Pink and white was carried out in the place cards and wedding-bell nut cups used as decorations. Six college friends of the bride served. Out-of-town guests were Mrs. R. 'W. Slaght, mother of the groom. Miss Blanche Peterson, Grandon; Miss Bernice Roble, Souris; Miss Louise Wilkins, Cheyenne, S.
