May 3.—Fifty girls of La Moure high school and grades will present the combined cantata and pageant, “A Garden of Flowers,” here tonight. Punds raised will be used to send representatives of the school to the district music and declamation event at Jamestown and to the coming May Conference at the state university, Grand Forks. The junior and senior high school girls’ glee clubs aud the junior girls’ glee club will present the cantata and grade pupils will participate in the pageant. Hazen Cooke is the di- rector. Butte Mining Man Here On Visit to Daughter Frank Morrison of Butte, Mont., a mining man with claims at Corbin, ‘south of Helena, is here on a visit to his daughter, Miss Mary Morrison. He also is a former Butte newspaper man. Mr. Morrison says Butte is enjoying great prosperity, as copper is the highest it ever was, and silver and zinc, by-products of Butte mining, also share in the increase of prices. |La Moure Wool Group Assembles Wednesday La Moure, N. Woodmen Name Oakes AMERICAN KILLED B MEXICAN HURRICANE Mexico City, May 3.—(4)—A hurri- cane swept, the gulf coast of Mexico last night, wrecking buildings and plantations and leaving a ruin from Tampico south to Vera Cruz. One American, Victor Carlie, member of the crew of the American steamer San Jacinto at Tampico, was killed. The wind exceeded a velocity of 70 miles an hour during most of the night at Vera Cruz. It was feared a number of small craft in the harbor there had come to grief. At Tampico the steamer San Jacin- to was torn from its mooring in the. Panuco river and collided with an-) other ship.
