The shooting occurred in front of the Casper farm home where Mrs. Casper, her sister and Sheriff Stephens had gone to secure Mrs. Casper’s belongings. Yesterday she filed divorce proceedings against Casper. When the party reached the gate in front of the house they found it wired and the two women and the sheriff got out of the car. As Sheriff Stephens was unfastening the gate, Casper opened fire from an upstairs window with a shotgun. His first shot killed his wife in- stantly and seriously wounded Mrs. Ruzika in the head.
