Compare the size of the man in the upper right hand picture with the gorge on which he is standing. The picture was taken near Huff, the base of the great gorge that impounded the Mis- souri. In the upper right hand corner of the picture, the river can be seen cutting a new channel around the iceberg blockade. -On the right hand side in the middle can be seen a farm two miles back from the river. It was completely surrounded by water. The center picture shows Sibley island and the bayou cutting in from the river to join Apple Creek just before it empties in the Missouri. On the right a flooded farm can be dimly seen. The picture in the lower ri ht hand corner shows Henry Rhud, Bismarck, watching the river rise over the Sibley island bottoms, covering his farm buildings on the island. In the lower left hand corner, the gorge at Schmidt. The picture was taken from the Burleigh county side and looks directly across the valley to Schmidt. A farm can be seen in the clearing.
