WHEAT PRIGES PALL |[ New ork Stocks} A chem. & Dre. ON WEATHER REPORT |= All Grain Values Lower as Fa- vorable Conditions Ap- pear in Wheat Belt Chicago, March 18.—(?)—With crop Y reports from domestic wheat territory {c~crable cs a whole, wheat prices av- craged lower today, although on de- ,clines ready absorption of offerings caused rallies. Houses with eastern connections were the chief buyers, and were aided through 423,000 bushels decrease of the United States wheat visible supply total. Corn was weak from the start, with the only support coming from previous sellers and with 50,000 bushels more corn sold today at Kansas City to come here. Wheat closed nervous, *sc to lc net lower, (March 1.24% to %, May 1.28 1, to %, July 1.31 to %, Sept. 1.325%). Corn 1%%c to 1% off, March 94% igs 9814 to %, July 1.01%, Sept. 102 oats finished %3¢ to %c down, (March 46%, May 48%, July 48 to 's, Sept. 4514). An provisions showing 7c to 22c girop. Declines in wheat prices today that were associated with prevailing aus- picious weather conditions for the do- mestic crop southwest and with lower Liverpool quotations came in the face of distinctly unfavorable crop reports from Chicago experts traveling in Kansas. Friends of higher prices for wheat contended today that accumulation of supplies in North America had its effect on values months ago, and that there can be no reasonable ex- pectation of materially lower prices until there is definite evidence that 1929 wheat production will be abun- dant-evidence which cannot be avail- able for three or four months yet, if at all. It was further asserted that there is at present a heavy specula- tive short interest in the market, ‘whereas the opposing side is princi- pally made up of substantial domestic and foreign holders. In the corn market here a bearish Buenos Aires, that market being 113 * lower at midday following a decline of 1%¢ to 1%c on Saturday. Favor- able weather for field work cased the oats market. Provisions sagged as a result of warehouse selling of lard. WHEAT BREAKS SHARP AND CONTINUES DOWN Minneapolis, Minn., March 18.—(?) Springlike weather, easy cables and slack cash wheat and flour demand gave wheat a sharp break today. The market started easy and ran into stop-loss selling, dropping Minneapo- lis 112c to 1%¢c. Buying against down- ward privileges brought a rally after ,midsession, but pressure increased on ‘the upturn. Larger country offerings gave corn an easy start, and the market ran into stop-loss selling. Oats eased %:¢ to %sc. May barley broke Ic on scat- tered selling and poor pit support. May rye dropped 1%c and had a part- way rally. May rye broke 2':c on scattered liquidation and a narrow pit demand. Cash wheat offerings were moder- ate, with fair to good demand. Winter wheat was steady for good quality, easy for poor. Durum was steady for better grades, easy for poor. Corn offerings wére moderate and demand was quiet to fair. Rye was steady for milling quality, with de- CHICAGO LIVESTOCK » Chicago, March 18—(#)—(U. 8.
