March 14.—@)— Hillsboro and Spiritwood, recognized as two of the strongest independent basketball teams of North Dakota, will meet here tonight at 8 o'clock in the first game for the championship of the state independent league, un- der the official drawings made today. As Williston and Leith, representa- tives of the northwest districts, were unable to send their teams to Ender- lin, the tournament was cut to a 10-team affair and the draw was made on an cight-team basis, with two preliminary climination contests on tonight's program. Carpio and Cando will meet in the second pre- liminary game tonight at 9, and the | winners of tonight's contests will meet at 9 p.m. Friday in the fourth game of the first round. Sharon and Enderlin will open the first round at 3 p.m. tomorrow, while Minnewaukan and Granville will play at 4 p.m. Qsnabrock township and Hankinson are booked for 8 o'clock Friday night. Semifinals will be played Saturday morning, with the finals Saturday night. D., March 14—(P}— Nearly 200 delegates were present to- day for the opening of the Ramsey county economic conference, the 12th and concluding meeting of a series of such conferences held throughout the state during the last two months. The purpose of the meeting which will close tomorrow, is to develop a program of agricultural and home practices based on information from the North Dakota Agricultural col- lege, plus the successful experience of farmers in this county.
