ROOSEVELT PARK IS GIVEN Bla BOOST McKenzie Farmer and Commis- sioner Devine Set Forth Its Attractiveness * The McKenzie County Farmer has issued a special number devoted to setting forth the attractiveness of the Bad Lands as a site for a na- tipnal park. M.-Devine, commission- er of immigration, had a hand in preparing the matter bearing on the proposed Roosevelt Memorial park. Whole pages are filled with fine half-tone cuts of the picturesque spots which the tract embraces, and there are interesting articles on the Indians, on Roosevelt, on coal and clay and on the scenic wonders of this weird area. There is another article dealing with the part Governor George F. Shafer is taking in trying to create the proposed park. He urged that the state acquire title to the site land not already in its possession ajd return it all to the federal gov- ernment, from which it originally was deeded to the state. The gov- ernment rule is not to create na- tional parks unless states or com- munities furnish title to the lands needed. Bills No, 151 in the senate and No. 168 in the house embody the governor’s recommendation, and their passage is urged by the Farm- er. The issue reflects a lot of credit Photo by H.
