a MONDAY, DECEMBER 24, 1928 THE BISMARCK TRIRUNE CUPID'S AIRPLANE CONTINUES PURSUIT OF GIRL HOMEWARD Overtaken on Coast by Medical Student, Two May Be on Way to Her Parents Reno, Nevada, Dec. 24—(AP)— Still trailing Miss Ruth McConnell, pretty 26-year-old New York musician who is returning eastward after hav- ing fled to San Francisco from Rochester, N. Y., Francis Bowhan, Omaha pilot, hopped off from the Reno air mail field at 8:45 a. m., to- day, for Salt Lake City. -Bowhan brought Miss McConnell and D. O. Meeker, Rochester, medical student, to Reno by aif Saturday, and his passengers departed a few hours later by train for Ogden, Utah. The airman declined to state whether he ‘was to meet the two in Salt Lake City. Miss McConnell, accompanied by Meeker, is understood to be/on the ‘way to Indianapolis, where her par- ents live. Meeker pursued the girl across the continent last week and chartered Bowhan’s plane at Omaha in an un- successful attempt to overtake her on an overland limited ‘rain. The medi- cal student said Miss McConnell was his patient and that he had been commissioned by Kenneth B. Coulter, wealthy New York broker, to go after her. The explanation given by Miss Mc- Connell of her disappearance from Rochester was that she had fled to escape marriage from Coul- ter, a friend of the family, and too solicitous care by physicians retained ‘by Coulter and her family. The bullet went through the wall and killed James Langford, 21, who was passing the house. Armstrong was released under $1,500 bonds. After retiring Mrs. Armstrong arose to inspect the win- dow lock.
