Mayor R. J. McDonald, nine other eity officials, and 16 citizens, many of whom are prominent here, yester- day were served bench warrants by indictments returned at previous ses- sions and which since have been held by the court defective for technical reasons, JUDGE PUGH STUDIES M'FARLAND DECISION Considers Legal Phases of Case; Attorneys to An- nounce Result Judge Thomas H. Pugh of the | sixth district, who heard arguments at Bismarck last week in the case in which J. A. Coffey is seeking to pre- vent R. G. McFarlana trom assuming the duties of judge of the fourth dis- trict, had not completed his decision ‘on legal phases of the case today. Judge Pugh said he expected to mail the decision to the attorneys in the case today and that no announce- ment as to its contents will be made until they have received it. Coffey is charging McFarland with violating the corrupt practices act in the election. McFarland challenged the jurisdiction of the court to hear the case and it is upon this point that Judge Pugh was to rule. Heavy Snow Falls in Ramsey County Devils Lake, N. D., Dec, 18—(P)— This section today had its first real touch of winter. With the lowest temperature during the night at 21 degrees above zero, a stiff north wind brought with it the first real snowfall of the season. The snow was heavy, United Staies Marshal Callen and his deputies who arrived in town when the thermometer registered 15 de- grees below zero. Those arrested were released on temporary bonds pending arraign- ment later this week. Their trials were expected to begin January? at Pueblo. The group will discuss necessity for changes in the ordinances of the body and plans for expansion in member- ship and objects at the January meet- ing. Schrader, Bismarck, who is in a local hospital, suffered only body bruise3 in an auto crash here Sunday, according to her attending physician. An X-ray examination showed that. no bones were broken and that her spine was not injured, as it was feared. at first. Mrs. Schrader is improving rapidly and will be able to leave the hospital in two or three days, the physiciann jsaid. The accident in which Mrs. Schrad- er was hurt occurred at Sixth street and Mroadway avenue at 5:20 p. m. Sunday.
