a Continued meagerness of deliver- MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1928 ae es WHEAT PRICES SCALE UPWARD Scarce December Delivery Of- ferings Cause Generai Gains | "after Drop ° 4 chicago, Dee. 3.—(AP)—Notwith- wtanding 2,168,000 bushels increase of the United States wheat visible} 1 supply total, wheat prices today av- eraged higher. World shipments of 921,933,000 buehels of wheat for the week set a new top record. Ready absorption of wheat offerings here. December delivery in particular helped to give the market a general upward trend except at the last. Corn was strengthened by reports of prospective large export require- ments, and oats sold at new high prices for the season. Wheat closed irregular at %@'se net decline to %@ ec advance, (Dor, 1.16% to %@%, March 1.20% to %, May 1.231%%°@% to %). Corn %c to %e up, (Dec. 56; March 88% to %, May 91%). Oats closed %@%e to %e ad- vance (Dec. 47%, March 48, May 48%), and provisions unchanged to a setback of 15c. jes on December wheat contracts ere had much to do today with turning prices upward at times, only 49,000 bushels of wheat was shown to have been thus handed over today at the outset with future delivery of- ferings likewise scant. The market soon gathered force on the buying side, especially as hot winds were reported as prevailing in South Ar- gentina. Predictions of cold weather, like- ly to hasten the movement of the corn crop, gave an incentive to sell- ers in the corn market. On the oth- er hand, department of agriculture advices were current, indicating that potential demand for corn appears about equal to last season. There are fewer hogs but mose cattle on feed, end relative prices favor feed- ing both of cattle and hogs. s WHEAT FIRM DESPITE BEAR STATISTIC ARRAY Minneapolis, Minn., Dec. 3—(®)— Wheat was quiet and firm through ost of today’s session in spite of q isappointing cables and a bearish array of statistics.
