M. WELCH ‘The mad rush of harvest and threshing time is drawing to a close in this vicinity. Threshing will be finished at the end of the week, ex- cept perhaps for a little flax. Sev- eral threshing machines, including K. O. Knutson’s, John Johnson’s, Ed Doppler’s, Diedrich’s and John Welch’s are busy in the immediate Het hina Several others have pulled through the Spur district but are threshing within @ radius of a few miles. Most of the grain is be- ing held, but that which was shipped was loaded niostly at Me- noken, A small amount was shipped from the Spur and some hauled by truck to Bismarck. The average yield for wheat in this community was between 12 and 15 bushels per acre. It is testing ex- tra well in protein. The feed crops, such as oats, speltz and barley, turned out fairly well. Many of the neighbors who have finished threshing are putting up hay and digging potatoes.
