FARGO GIRL IS LEGION LEADER Harriet Phillips Heads ‘Livest Band in World’; Goes to Convention Fargo, N. _D., Oct. 4.—(AP)— Miss Harriet Phillips, Fargo, “Queen of the Livest Band in the World,” will lead her musical troupe to a national convention of the American gion. The band, officially known as the North Dakota American Legion band, will be heard from several radio stations before and during their trip to the American Legion National Convention at San Antonio, Texas, October 8 to 12. The band plans to leave for the southern city tonight and will play several selections from the local radio station before they entrain, and several more while en route to San Antonio. Following the program over the the Fargo Legion post at the regu- lar monthly meeting, the band will play over radio stations at Minne- air tonight and appearance before |: apolis, Kan: ity, Fort Worth, Dallas and will also be heard from a San Antonio station and from KMOX while returning to Fargo. The band is credited with being the most unique musical organization in the state, in that it is composed of 31 men from 31 different towns and cities in the state. No two members belong to the same Legion post. The outfit was given the name of the “Livest Band in the World” by Colonel Ralph Webb, former mayor of Winnipeg, when he heard it during the | international good will tour this summer. E.
