Cunningham of Devils Lal The following were elected presi- dents of the various districts of the state: First district, Mrs. R. A. De- mars of St. Thomas; second district, Mrs. J. J. Kehoe of Cando; third district, Mrs. P. P. Campbell of Ray; fourth district, Mrs. J. H. Movius of Lidgerwood; fifth district, Mrs. Frank Ployhar, A ee City; sixth district, Mrs. jickey of El- lendale; sreadh district, Mrs. Rob- inson of Dickinson; and eighth dis- trict, Mrs. James Cooper of Courte- nay. Dickinson has been chosen for next year’s federation meeting. The state better history contest, sponsored. by the federation, was won by Ruby Jane Cowell of Ver- endrye. Sevilla Wright of James- town was second, and Borghild Bue of Cooperstown third. Honorable mention was give nto W. H. Krueger of Niagara, Inez Gibson of Pembina, Garnett Flack of Milton, and Joseph Paulson of Mayville. The convention closed Thursday evening. Fortnightly Club Meets Wednesday With Miss Burr Mrs. Anna Burr and Mrs. G. A.! Rawlings read papers on the pro-| gram Wednesday afternoon when the Fortnightly club met at the home of Miss Burr. The treaty, of Versailles was ex- plained and discussed by Miss Burr, while Mrs. Rawlings spoke on “The Progress Toward World Peace.” These subjects were in keeping with the theme of study which the club has chosen for the year, “The World Today. The club voted to contribute $5 to the Red Cross seliet fund. C. J. Myers Is Host to Friends at Cards Thursday Evening C. J. Myers was host to a group of highway commissioners Thursday evening at his home at 513 West Rosser. The guests were entertained at five tables of bridge, and high scores were won by W. F. McGraw, J. E. O'Neil, and Mark Wynkoop. After the games a course lunch- eon was served by Mrs. Myers, as- sisted by Mrs. J. E. O’Neil, Mrs. W. F. McGraw, Mrs, A. D. McKinnon, and Mrs. George Hanson. Out-of-town guests included S. F. Laskey of Wahpeton, Ed Fowler ‘of Grand Forks, Mark Wynkoop of Valley City, H. C. Knudtson of Dick- inson, and Ray Rease of Minot. oe 8 Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Burton, E, F. Trepp and the A. O. U. W. drill team will go to Fargo Monday to attend the Supreme Lodge session which will meet there from Monday to Thursday. Clubs to Speak Here October 2 Miss Emily R- Knoubuhl of New York City, executive secretary of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, will be the guest of the Bismarck club on. Tuesday. Miss Chrissie Budge, Bismarck, president of the state federation, will head the committee to welcome Miss Knoubuhl to Bismarck. A club din- ner will be given Tuesday evening in honor of the national officer, after which she will speak to all o’clock at the Association of Com- merce rooms. Miss Knoubuhl is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, and for several years she was principal of one of Minnesota’s largest schools. In 1918 she became an organizer | with the war camp community serv. ice, remaining in this service until 1920, when she joined the staff of |the Minnesota League of Women Voters as organizer and lecturer. iss Knoubuhl held a similar po- sition with the Women’s league in Cincinnati and with the national jleague. She has attained success in conducting campaigns, both in Cin- cinnati and in Rochester, N. Y. During the last six years she has spoken in 27 states before rep sentatives of all the larger wome national organisations: New Clubs ‘Will Be Organized by B. P. W. Federation in State The state federation. of Busin and Professional Women’s club begun an intensive campaign of promoting new clubs in North Da- kota, Miss Ruth Rich, New York City, field secretary of ‘the National ‘ederation of Business and Profes- sional Women’s clubs, is in the state a week in the interests of this plan. , Miss Chrissie Budge of Bismarck, state president, announces that this plan of promotion is meeting with enthusiastic support. District conferences will be held at Fargo, Grand Forks, Minot and Valley City, during Miss Rich’s vis- it to the state.
