Hellstrom is pitching into his work as chairman of “Al Smith Day” in Bismarck, September 26, and today said that arrangements are going forward at a rapid pace for the “biggest political rally” the state has ever seen. The ‘Northern Pacific and Soo railroads have already been re- quested to run seven special trains into Bismarck on that day to help take care of some of the thousands of outsiders who will come to Bis- marck on that day to hear Governor Al Smith give an address concerning his candidacy for president of the United States and to attend the afternoon program which will follow Smith’s short visit here. Fifty reservations for outsiders for seats at the auditorium and the luncheon had been received by the local chairman last night by tele- phone and telegraph. The Bismarck attorney said this morning that hun- dreds of requests for reservations would be received here in the next few days. Hallstrom has already made ar- rangements for some of his sub- committees to help in the work of the day, but he is not yet ready to jannounce the names of committee- men, the man who will introduce the Democratic candidate; or the after- noon speakers. Special trains asked from the ~y Northern Pacific would run on the main line east and west of Bismarck, and on the Mott, Killdear and Lirtc= lines.
