In 2,032 of 2,192 precincts the vote for repeal was 91,625, and the vote against repeal was 97,461. On the attorney general contest 2,177 precincts gave William F. Langer 86,347, and Morris 87,578. In the contest for commissioner of agriculture and labor the tabulation in 2,060 of 2,192 precincts showed 72,823 votes for Fisher, and 82,325 for Kitchen. On the governorship the tabulated vote in 2,099 precincts was 89,618 for Shafer, 4,141 for Stréich, and 80,194 for Thoresen. In 2,077 precincts the vote on United States senator was 91,946 for Frazier, 79,445 for Nestos, and 7,617 for Stone. In the Democratic contest for gov- ernor, the only one on the Demo- cratic primary ticket, Anderson was leading Otto. Shafer Thanks Voters George F. Shafer today thanked the voters for the endorsement given him, in the following state- ment: “I wish to thank the voters of North Dakota, both men and women, for the splendid endorsement which was accorded to me and other Inde- pendent candidates at the recett pri- mary election, This was a victory for sound government and clearly demonstrates that when aroused the majority of our, citizens realize the importance of protecting the state against the further extension of league principles in our system of government. “I desire to especially commend the Independent women’s crganiza- tion for the effective work done. This organization was a big factor, which aroused interest, materially increased the total vote, and contrib- uted much to the success of the In- dependents. “Although vigorously contested the campaign was, with some excep- tions, fought out on the issues of the merits involved, and was fairly free of the partisan bitterness which has characterized campaigns of other years. For this spirit of ness the adherents of both parties are to be commended and the state congratulated. “I keenly regret the defeat of Mr. Nestos of the other Independents who failed of nomination. This loss should serve to remind us@€hat the opposition is both determined and well organized, and that there must be no letting down on the pa: of our forces if we are to carry through to a final success the victory gained in the primaries.” GIRL KILLED IN ACCIDENT Jamestown, July 2.— (®) — Grace Halliday, about 23 years of age, was instantly killed near Oakes Sunday when the light coupe in which she was driving struck a soft spot in the road and overturned.
