I sort of thought he'd pull through all right.” That's what Ole Eielson, banker and merchant of Hatton, N. thought of the exploits of his son, Ben Eielson, who piloted George Wilkins over the top of the world and landed in Spitzbergen after they had dropped out of sight for nearly a week, The elder Eielson is on his way to New York by easy stages to wel- come his son back to the United States. “I went to San Francisco to see him off in February. And I expect I'll be hanging around the docks in New York when he comes back,” Mr. Eielson said. Ben Eielson is expected to land about July 1. “T guess I was about the first per-| son in this part of the world to he: that the expedition had come through | all aa he Ben sent me a radiogram rig ht aw: ‘he radiogram read, laconically, | “Landed in Spitzbergen all safe”. But that was enough for Ben's dad, a quiet, soft spoken individual with no particular the reflection of his son’s achieve-j ment. Ben, he says, is going Alaska again, after the > Wweleoming!4 celebrations are all over, to start up} an airplane corporation. Five planes’ already “ave been lined up, capital subscribed, and Ben will "act as genergl manager. That is, if he’ doesn’t decide at the last minute to) go off with George Wilkins to the! South Pole. In Hatton, they're getting ready, to give Ben a big celebration when he returns.
