Hughes athletic field, Bismarck. Myron Anderson of the Bismarck high school faculty will assist in directing athletic events, Unless greater interest is shown in the declamatory and music events these contests will be eliminated from the Play Day activities for this year. Little Girls Glee Club Will Sing in Indian School Play Among the outstanding features of “Se-A-Wan-A”, lyric drama to be given at the city. auditorium, May 8, by pupils from the Indian School, is the ppearance of the little girls’ glee club. They will sing several selections during the performances. Miss Rena White and Miss Ida ‘Azure of the Indian School will ap- ear as soloists, singing Indian Faitabys and native melodies. The leading parts in “Se-A- ‘Wan-A” will be played by Clara Lillian Pel- tier, Dora LaFrance, Mary Slater, Julia Page and Anna St. Arnaud. Mrs, Herman Scheffer is direct- ing the music, while the dancing and dramatics are being coached by Mrs. D. Bruce Doyle. se . New P. E. O. Chapter Is Installed Here Chapter N of P. E. O. was in- stalled Monday evening in the city with special services at the home of Mrs. i S. Towne. This installation distinguished Bismarck as the first city in North Dakota to have two chapters of P. E. 0. Chrissie E. Budge was elected president of the new chapter, Mrs. | vice president; Miss Mildred Huff, recording secretary; Mrs. R. E. Thompson, corresponding secretary; Miss Bertha Burton, treasurer; Miss Sara Andrews, chaplain; Mrs, Juanita Edick, guard. Mrs. Charlotte Reed of Dickinson, organizer for the North Dakota state chapter, presided over the initia- tion and installation, assisted bv officers and members of Chapter F. Ten candidates were initiated into Chapter N, and five were admitted from other chapters in the state. The total membership is 15. After the initiation, refreshments were served. The table was decor- ated with marguerites, the flower of the P. E. 0. Sisterhood. Taper candles lighted the dining room. Mrs. J. P. French, Mrs. W. F. Har- ris, Mrs, Frank Cave and Mrs. Juanita Edick served. Chapter N is the 14th chapter of P. E. 0. in North Iékota. The Sisterhood was founded at Towa Wesleyan University, Mount Pleas-| ant, Iowa, on January 21, 1869, . F. L, Conklin, general manager of the Provident Life Insurance company, and C, CG. Hoskins, in charge of agencies, left today for Minnesota, where they will spend the balance of the week on business. They plan_to call on the company’s agents in Minnesota, and especially through the southern part of the state. They are making the trip by automobile. ee Mr. and M Harley Wilds of Valley City have arrived in this city where Mr. Wilds has accepted a position as manager of the shoe de- artment of the A. W. Lucas store. Ir. Wlids has been with the Black store in Valley City for some time. J, A. Kitchen, commissioner of agriculture and labor, has accepted an invitation to speak at a meeting of the Parent-Teachers association at the Mitchel school, west of Wil- ton, Friday evening. He will speak on “Harvesting the Wheat Crop.” 7 . Bismarck, Mandan Dental. Assistants ‘Organize Society The Bismarck-Mandan Society of Dental Nurses and Assistants was organized Monday evening at a meeting at the Grand Pacific hotel. Mrs. Eleanor Jarvis ‘of this city was elected president. Other offi- cers named are: Mrs. Olga Burbage of Bismarck, vice president; Miss Marie Cordner of Bismarck, secretary and treas- urer. The regular meetings of the organization will not begin until some time in -October. Oat Miss Bertha Burton Will Become Bride of Samuel Merritt Mrs. Mary Burton announced the approaching marriage of her daugh- ter, Bertha, to Samuel Merritt at a pretty May Day party at the Bur- ton home Tuesday evening. The wedding will occur early in June. Miniature May poles decorated the tables, and each guest was pre- sented with a favor from the Camel's Bell gift anes operated by Miss Helen Burton in Peking, China. The evening was spent at bridge and honors were won by Miss Boni- face Morris and Miss Mary Huber.
