HAS 2,846.5 MILES OF HIGH, TENSION LINES Four of Six Major Power Com- panies Build 946.5 Miles of Line in 1927 North Dakota’s seven major elec- tric light and power companies had 46.5 miles of transmission lines either constructed or approved De- cember 1, 1927, the state railroad commission announced in a report made ‘pall today. During 1927 four of these com- panies constructed 946.5 miles of tiansmission lines. The policy of merging small community units, adding a total of 58 towns to their service, was continued by four com- panies, the report shows. The seven companies are the Ot- ter Power company, the Northern States Power company, the Mon- tana-Dakota Power company, the Hughes Electric company, the Northern Power and Light company, the Northern Utilities corporation, and the Interstate Power company. The report shows that the total mileage of the Otter Tail Power! company’s transmission lines in North Dakota, either constructed or approved, was 1,562 miles on De- cember 1; that the toal mileage of the Northern States Powe. company at that time was 116.5 miles; the Montana-Dakota Power company, 477.5 miles; the Hughes Electric company, 307.5 miles; the Northern Power and Light company, 276 miles; the Northern Utiiities cor- ration, 82 miles and the Interstate ‘ower company, 25 miles, New Lines Built During 1927, according to the re- port, the Montana-Dakota ‘ Power company added in 1927 53 miles of 13,200 volt line; the Northern Power and Light company, 157 miles of 22,000 volt; the Hughes Electric company, 46.5 miles of 12,300 volt; | the Otter Tail Power company 410, miles of 38,009 volt line, 115 miles | of 6,600 volt line and 165 miles of 13,200 volt line. Towns added to the Otter Tail Power company’s system in 1927 were Ayr, Barto., Barney, Bloom, Bottineau, Calio, Cogswell, Churchs Ferry, Davenport, Denl.off, Dun- seith, Edinburg, Egeland, Forman, Forest River, Granville, Gre | Bend, Gardena, Hamilton, Hurdsfield, Kramer, Lecds, Miiton, Munich, Ni- agara, Orr, Omemee, Pisek, Perth, Rolla, Rugby, Rolette, St John, St. Thomas and Velva. Montana-Dekota Power company | additions were the towns of Alamo, Appam, Corinth, Donnybrook, Gre- ncra, Hanks, Hamlet, Kincaid, Mar- marth, McGregor ani Zahl. Hughes Electri: company addi- tions were Belfield, Burt, Carson, Heil, Leith, Mott, and New Leip- zig.
