Palmer ' State University to Be Hosts to Teachers Special invitations have been is- sued by Bismarck members of the University of North Dakota alumni to all former students and graduates of the school who will attend the North Dakota Teachers’ association which meets here Oct. 26, 27, 28, to attend a banquet at the Methodist y - church on the evening of October 26, Miss Rita Murphy of this city has been appointed chairman of the ban- quet committee. Mrs. Rose Hoffman Opens Rose Shop in Grand Forks Hotel The Rose Shop, owned by Mrs. Rose Hoffman of this city, was opened Monday in the Ryan hotel building in Grand Forks. The shop will be devoted to the selling of exclusive apparel for misses and women. Miss Eillen Sammon of St. Paul and Miss Katherine Bodenstab of Bismarck will be in charge of the shop. ‘Tones of brown and red are used in the decoration of the shop, while the fixtures are of wrought iron. Palmer Wednes- day evening at the new Ryan hotel, The social committee comprised of the following members will make ar- rangements: Miss Mary MacCum- ber, chairman, Miss Rose Meblin, Leo M, Haesle and Wayland Win- ter. A short business meeting will be held at which committee reports will be given, Miss Palmer’s address will be on “Beauty Spots in North Dakota.” A short musical program will be given during the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Patterson Entertain at Dinner Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Patterson en- tertained at dinner Monday evening at their apartment in the Patterson hotel. Covers were laid for nine guests, Following the dinner an exhibition of the Tunney-Dempsey fight pic- tures was given, convinci! the guests that Dempsey was the better man. The pictures gave the guests a splendid idea of the skillful fight action demonstrated at the cham- pionship bout. After the pictures were shown, the remainder of the evening was Spent at bridge. Friends Give Party For Lillestrands About thirty friends of Mr. and Mrs. N. Lloyd Lillestrand surprised them at a dinner party at their home Saturday evening. The rooms were decorated with bittersweet, while a centerpiece of asters was used for the dinner table. Following the dinner a social eve- ning was spent. Mr. Lillestrand left Monday for. Grand Forks where he has accepted a position as assistant office man- ager of the Grand Forks branch of the International Harvester com- pany. Mrs. Lillestrand and baby will go to Grand Forks about Nov. 1. ‘Delegates Return From C. E. Convention Mrs. J. L. Hughes, junior super- intendent for the North Dakota Christian. Endeavor union, Mrs. Charles Liessman, quiet hour and tenth legion superintendent, and Clell G. Gannon, president, have re- turned to Bismarck after attending one of the most successful conven- tions ever held in North Dakota, the 32nd annual convention held in Minot October 7, 8, and 9. : The above members from Bis- marck took active parts in the con- vention program. Delegates from the local Christian Endeavor society who have returned from the meeting are: Miss Dorothy Petron, Miss Thelma Liessman, Miss Ida Beicegal and William Erlenmeyer.
