Di ciemreae CORN SCORES- NEW ADVANCE jaay| Adverse Crop Reports Cause Price Rise—Wheat Shows Late Upturn Chicago, June 16.—(#)—With ad- verse crop reports at hand from the entire corn belt except Nebraska, the corn market today red a notable fresh advance. Relatively cool wet weather, unfavorable for corn, was prevalent, Wheat, although tending downward early, showed a late up- turn, based both on corn strength and on fears of a wet harvest in the southwest. Corn closed strong, 2% to 2% centg net higher, with, at firm at % to 1% cents gain, oats % to % cent up, and provisions varying from 12 cents decline to a rise of 30 cents. July delivery of corn jumped to well above 1.00 a bushel today when a prominent speculator took conspic- uously to the bull side of the mar- et. Other active tra followed his lead, and gave special -attention to unfavorable corn crop reports from Illinois as well as to widespread cool weather. On the other hand, advices that the Kessinger bill to regulate grain exchanges likely to come up this afternoon in the rid nois state legislature, was a factor which at times counted asa bear in- fluence. . Unlooked for setbacks in Liver- pool wheat quotations today were ascribed chiefly to breaking of the drought in Australia. Besides, al- most perfect conditions for domestic spring wheat northwest were re- ported. Harvest delays southwest counted, thaugh, as something of an offset. WHEAT RALLIES SHARPLY ON MINNEAPOLIS MARKET Minneapolis, Junc 16.—()—Show- ers in the southwest, creating fears of wet harvest; strength in corn and overselling on weak cables; resulted in a sharp rally today in wheat prices | 2% gaining %‘to 1's cents. Corn bulged strongly and finished 2%@2% cents up for the day. Oats gained with corn, but trade was quiet. Rye futures dipped early and came back with wheat, but ae market was slaw meine ‘A few small lots were reported-gold for ex- port. Barley futur draggy on ease in the cash mi ~ duly flaxseed sold off one cent and rallied slightly above last close. Gash wheat offerings were small and choice was scarce. The gencral market was quiet but steady to firm, wheat was slow. Winter wheat was firm. Durum was steady and quiet. Cash. corn offerings were fair and demand was good, with choice firm jto strong. Oats were quict and draggy. Rye: .was steady and quiet. Barley was easy to, one cent lower. Flaxseed was steady. 80, $T.
