GRAIN PRICES ALL BOOSTED Trading on Chicago Market So Wild Today It Borders on Hysterical Chicago, May 28,—()—Trading so wild today that much of the time it bordered) on the hysterical turned all grain upward to above previous top prices this season. Corn and oats showed ‘much greater advances than wheat in which taking led to reactions. Urgent need of dry warm weather to permit corn planting, which fs now at a critical stage, was the big focus of attention for most speculators. Corn closed nervy: cents net higher, wheat at. % cent decline, oats % to 1% cents up and provisions showing 17 to 25 ad- vance. Rapid price changes and big trad- ing was the rule in all the grain pits today. Corn was the leader much of the time, not wheat, further heavy rains and low temperatures in the corn belt tending to make the plant- ing situation desperate in places, For example, dispatches said southwest Missouri -has only 40 per cent of corn planted, whereas the average date of planting is April 15, and fully half of what has been planted has failed to germinate. Selling out to realize profits was a feature in the wheat markets. Early price bulges were taken -advantage of to unload holdings, and the wheat weakness which ensued acted at times as u drag on corn and other grain. On the other hand, reports from the southwest told ‘of the wheat crop continuing to deteriorate and weather conditions in Canada i were again reported adverse.
