FRIDAY, APRIL 1, 1927 FORD TAKEN TO ESTATE | LAST NIGHT|::: Injured Man’s Return Home Shrouded in Secrecy—Is Expetted to Recover Detroit, April 1—@)—Henry Ford, igjured in an automobile accident ist Sunday evening, was taken back to his Dearborn estate from the Henry Ford hospital last night, it became known today. The same secrecy that surrounded Sir. Ford’s admittance to the hospital last Tuesday, 48 hours after the ac- cident, attended the return to his estate near where his small coupe was forced from the road by a heavier machine. ile officers of the Ford organ- jog were reported to be preparing cial statement, they declined at first to confirm or deny that the injured motor king had left the hos- pital. Removed Last Night The removal from the hospital was made shortly before 9 o'clock last night. Mr..Ford, it was understood, was chafing under hospital restraint, and with the approval of Dr. R. D. McClure, chief surgeon of Mr. Ford’s own hospital, the 10-mile journey back to Dearborn was undertaken. In giving his approval of the re- turn to Dearborn, Dr. McClure said athe injured man could be treated as well at his home as he could at the hospital. The bulletins issued throughout yesterday from the hos- pital described Mr. Ford as pro- gressing satisfactorily. Only time now is needed, Dr. McClure said, to complete full recovery. ; He added, however, that Mr. Ford would have ‘to “lie flat on his back.” FORD DISCOUNTS IDEA OF AN ATTEMPT TO KILL HIM Detroit, Mich., April 1.—(4)—Henry Ford, lying prostrate, strapped and braced about the chest and back, in the utter seclusion of his great estate at Dearborn, regards his in- juries as received in an accident which may never be solved. He does not believe and never has said that he believed there was a deliberate plot uvon his life. Harry H. Bennett, head of the Ford organization’s nation-wide sys- 4 tem of investigating, was responsible for the statement, RILEY TELLS THRIFT VALUE Schools Should Help to For-| \ mulate Saving Habit, Inspec- tor Says in Talk at Dodge Dodge, N. Details to be taken up at the meet- ing include the courses of instruc- tion to be given and troop move ments to and from the camp. Adjutant General Fraser estimates that about 1,100 enlisted men and 70 officers will attend the Devils Lake encampment. DICKINSON BOY HIT BY TRUCK Son of Mr. and Mrs. D. J. By means of a chart, Mr. Riley showed the advantages of thrift. The chart showed what the results of lack of thrift are by portraying, on one side, 100 young men, equal mentally ee and physically, beginning in life. On! - the other side was shown a record of the same 100 men 40 years later, at the age of 65. Of the 100, 36 had died, 54 were dependents, five were still working, four had retired in- dependent and with ample means, and one was rich. This graphic chart was based on a survey made by the American Bankers Association. Governments are not practicing thrift habits today, and the wanton waste of wealth of most governments pursuing naval development projects is an illustration of this fact, Mr. Riley . Mr. Riley has had wide experience in educational work in North Dakota. For eight years he has been asso- ciated with the department of public instruction in Bismarck, and for eight years previous to this he served the people of Cass county as superin- tendent of schools. While in Cass county, he instituted a thrift plan which enabled children of the rural schools there to save over $17,000 in one year. | Motion Pictures of Vacation Sites Are Taken For Coolidge Washington, April < 1.—()—Presi- dent Coolidge now has an opportunity to “look over” some sites offered him for a summer residence in the west.
