COUNTY AGENT ‘RETURNS FROM CONFERENCE Attends Sessions Devoted to: Produce Marketing— Talks to Jardine County Agent A. R.-Miesen return- ed last night from St. “Paul where he attended for several days the con- vention of the National Cooperative Marketing Institute. He met Secre- tary of Agriculture William Jardine and heard him talk before the con- vention. In his speech Secretary Jardine outlined ways and means whereby the new cooperative marketing bill will be of value to the farmers. In his private conversation to Mr. Miesen, he expressed great confi- dence in the outcome of the north- west, and thought that diversifica- tion and a more balanced income is the thing needed more than all else in this region. The convention began June 21 and -is to last until July 16. A different commodity is being taken up each week of the ression, according to Mr. Miesen, marketing of grain, live- stock, poultry, eggs, dairy products and so on being studied each week. Roy Potts, of the United States de- partment of agricultuze, in charge of marketing poultry and dairy prod- ucts, outlined a tentative scale of grades for eggs. He said the time is near when all eggs will be sol strictly according .to quality an grade. Packing Demonstrations The Same idea was also stressed i E. Heilman, Chi- cugo, president of the Live Poultry Shippers’ association. Mr. Heilman demonstrated the latest methods of packing dreasaa poultry for the mar- ket and devoted some atention to the marketing of turkeys, taking into consideration the crop from North Dakota and Montana. He briefly dis- cussed some improvements in the grade of live turkeys for market. E. McPheeters, manager of the Minnesota cooperative egg and poultry association, outlined the methods used standardizing farm flocks in,order to secure a more uniform dressed pack for the market and a more uniform quality of eggs. ——________4 | AT THE MOVIES ; ELTINGE THEATRE ~ The Palm Beach Girl,” Bebe Dan- speedy thrill-comedy will be’ shown at the Eltinge for the last tonight.
