Chairman Haugen of the house agriculture committee, which has held hearings for several weeks on the corn belt and other bills, has been directed, meanwhile, to draft a pro- posal along his own ideas. The com- mittee, however, is not pledged to support his plan, which probably will bring together some of the provisions McNary-Haugen bill which failed to receive congressional ap- proval two years ago, and of the corn belt measure, with the equali- zation fee proposed in the latter ap- plicable to the first sales of wheat, corn, cattle and hogs. Both plans contain the farm bard idea. ‘ While the president is not commit- ted one way or the other and will wait until the opinions of farm group members in congress have been brought out, he is inclined toward the principle of the Tincher bill in pro- viding for assistance without putting the government in the business of buying and selling crop — surpluses. Mr. Haugen, on the other hand, would have the proposed board au- thorized to buy and gell products if the e should fall below the world market quotation plus the import tariff on that commodity, and would empower the ‘president to change tariff rates to any point necessary Lake Cargo Coal Case Reopened For Further Hearings Washington, April 12.—(@)<-The interstate commerce commission to- day reopened for further hearings the lake cargo coal ease, involving rates on coal from several producing sections to Lake Erie ports. FLECK MOTOR CO. 10 HAVE NEW GARAGE Buick Agency Will Have Mod- ern Building at Corner of Seventh and Main Bismarck will have another up-to- date and modernly. equipped public garage building this summer as the | result of action taken by Motor Sales company signing contracts for the construc- tion of such a building on the site at the corner of Main and Seventh streets. The property is owned by R. C, Rosen, who now operats a filling station there. Mr. Rosen will erect the building and the Fleck company has taken g long time lease thereon. The new structure will be of brick construction .and strictly - fireproof. It will be.75 feet by 180 feet in size and will be built around the present filling station, which will remain a part of the new garage’s equipment. Only one story will be built at this time, but the construction will be such that a second floor may be add- ed at any time, and it is considered likely that this addition will be made within a year. Large Display Room The plans provide for an elaborate display room on the Main street frontage, capable of holding nine au- tomobiles. The offices will be at the side of the display, room, and to the reay will be the storage space and repair shop. Storage will be provid- ed for about 50 customers’ cars, and the entire building will be devoted the Fleck esterday in exclusively to Buick sales and ser- THE BIS BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA, | FLIERS FOUND AFTER SPENDING WEEK IN oF ATURDAY, APRIL 17, 1926 NEW ENGLAND STATES HAVE BIG BLIZZARD} R Snow Drifts Are Piled Five : Feet Deep Some Places . in Vermont State TWO DEATHS REPORTED Men Boiling Maple Sap Crushed When Roof of Sugar House Collapsed New York, April 17.—(4)—Maine, northern Vermont and northern New York today were digging from under a snow blanket left by a blizzard that established a new record for the ten- acity of winter in the section.
