“PAGE TWO ow Reassessment Affects Tax Situation in Bismarck! COMPLETE FIGURES UPON VALUATIONS AS MADE BY CITY AND I STATE RESULT OF TAX COMMISSIONER'S REASSESSMENT | Taxpayers Have Before Them Three Sets of Figures Showing Figure Set By City Asses- sor, State Tax Commissioner and Finally City Board’s Figures. ate’s Figures Binding Unless Altered by Burleigh Coun- ty Commissioners or the Courts In this issue the bune gives the assessment on stocks, handise and equipment and structures including lots in city of Bismarck. There was no revaluation of real ¢ under the reassessment of ‘Tax Commissioner Tho! Total figures presented on structures, include lots also, me as these figures were compiled from the tax records in the office of County Auditor Johnson. Where only one figure appears under the column, “State Reassessment,” that indicates property that escaped taxation. . . Phese figures are published to correct misinformation indulged in by a few curbstone politicians, who have sought to misrepresent and inflame certain people as to the changes made in their assessments. The reassessment now goes before the Board of County commissioners which meets Wednesday, Nov. 4, to hear any aggrieved party. payers of Bismarck through the presentation of the figures by the Tribune have ample chance to study them before the meet - ing and make such application for relief as they deem fit. The Tribune's Assessment In some quarters an issue has been made of the Tribune Company’s taxes. Figures published below show that the city assessor assessed the Tribune plant and stock at $18,000 us he has done for the past few years. Pique or some other motive following the last city campaign when the Tribune took occasion to call attention to some inadequacies in taxa- tion caused the city commission to raise the assessment on the Tribune plant $10,000 or a total of $28,000, After in- tigating what other printing plants were assessed at in marck and in other cities the tax commissioner reduced sessment on the plant and stock to some $21,000 or 3,000 more than was returned by the city assessor. As for the Tribune building, the state tax commissioner raised its valuation $12,000 over what the city commission placed it at in their final figures. As a result the Tribune’s assessment has been raised in the aggregate more than $5,000. This who differ politically with the Tribune. erty is ssed higher as a result of the re: ssment and not lower as the curbstone politicians have sought to make the neople of Bismarck believe. The figures are printed hercwith to prove the assertion. These figures have been compiled by employes of the county. If any errors have been made, the Tribune will gladly make any correction. No assessment has heen knowingly omitted. The list follows, ' STOCKS AND MERCHANDISE City Assessor s done to correct a half truth indulged in by those The Tribune prop- State Re-Assmt.
