This is especially true of putts of about a yard’s length. The reason I say this is because when both eyes are kept on the ball, the hole is in the line of vision. That makes a tendency for players to take their eyes off the ball and watch the hole instead, a division gf atten- tion. But when the left eye is centered on the ball, there is no distraction und it has been known, in my experi- ence to make an important differ- ence in a player's game. I do not recommend this in put- ting alone, either. It seems to me it is more important on the green, but perhaps it isn’t. But certainly that is where the distractiwn is greatest. I regard using one eye to watch the ball as the practical thing to do on all shots unless your eyes have al- ready been trained so as to make such a step unnec ary.
