“Social and PHSnal | Charity Balla - Colorful Affair A_rainbow assortment of colorful gowns was the chief decoration of | the Grand Pacific dining rvom last evening when the Eighth Annual Charity Ball given by the Catholic Daughters of America opened up the post-Lenten season of spring gaiety. About a hundred and seventy-five people responded to the special in- vitations sent out, and all seemed to enjoy dancing to the lively music supplied by the Frendberg and Olson five-piece orchestra. Dancing started , at about ten o'clock and continued through the evening until one, lunch being served about midnight. GIRL RESERVES AND HI-Y BOYS HAVE PICNIC MEETING A picnic lunch along the river and a campfire talk on books were en- joyed by both Girl Reserves of the Presbyterian Church and the Hi-Y boys lagt evening at their joint out- of-doors meeting. Carryi their lunch with them, the Girl Reserves hiked out the two and a half miles to the river, just north of the railroad bridge, where the Hi-Y boys had also gone for their supper and meeting. After sing- ing a few club songs, the boys and girls listened to an interesting talk on what kind of books to read, and how to read them, by Miss Lillian Cook, director of the State Library Commission. TO ATTEND AUGUSTANA SYNOD Mr. and Mrs, August Carlson left this morning for Minneapolis where they will attend the meeting of the Minnesota Conference of the August- ana Synod. During their week's it in Minneapolis they expect to vis- it friends and relatives. P. E. 0. MEETS Chapter F of the P. E. O. held a regular business session yesterday af- ternoon at the home of Mrs. A. Har- tis. An interesting review of the January and February issues of the “Record,” the monthly P.
