Faia { tal ! { | ae H | ) | | W Large Class Initiated By Lady Foresters A class: of thirty candidates was initiated last evening by the Lady Foresters at St. Mary’s School hall, following a banquet at which seven- ty-five members were present, The program for the evening in- cluded a piano solo by Miss Kather- ine Boespflug, an Irish dance given by Miss Elizabeth Dunn, and_a vocal solo by Miss Anna Marie Manning, with Miss Margaret McGarvey play- ing the piano accompaniment. Miss Mary Kelley from the High Court at Chicago conducted the ini- tiation service, giving an interesting talk on the order, and calling on sev- eral members to speak. A drill team comprising sixteen members was al-{ so organized. A social hour followed the meeting. Miss Kelley went to Mandan today to conduct a similar service for the Mandan orde: DEGREE OF HONOR HOLDS INITIATION Last evening the Degree of Honor hehi their meeting in the I. 0, 0. F. hall, which was attended by a large number of members, visitors and candidates. The regular routine work of the order was eliminated, and the Mandan Degree Staff con- ducted the initiatory ceremonies. A large class of candidates was re- ceived into the order, which will add much, it is expected, to the social and fraternal spirit of the organiza- tion. In addition to the degree staff from Mandan, which had been in- vited to assist with the initiation, a large number of visitors also were present from our neighboring city. Following the initiation, the meet- ing adjourned for a social hour. Eight tables of whist were in play, honors being won .by Miss Mary Sheehan and Mrs. Robert Doerr of Mandan. Late in the evening a two-course luncheon was served, and the Man- dan guests departed for their homes after thanking the Bismarck mem- bers for the pleasant evening, and accepting the appreciation of the Bismarck lodge for assisting in the initiation. LOCAL GIRL ON JAMESTOWN MUSICAL PROGRAMS Miss Louise Huber was one of a number of Jamestown College music students who gave the program for the Jamestown Music Club on Mar. Miss Huber also sang at the Ves- per Service at Jamestown College on Sunday, March 29, the selection being a duet with Clarice Christop erson, “The Lord Is My Shepherd,” by Smart. ORPHANS ENJOY TEACHERS’ PORTFOLIO Miss Madge Runey has_ recently received a letter from Mrs. Alma Kerr, formerly of Wing, who is now in charge of the Hilltop Orphanage in Beirut, Syria, expressing appre- ciation for the portfolio which’ was compiled at the Teachers Institute last fall and sent to Mrs. Kerr. The portfolio contained pictures, des- criptive material of general interest, letters, ete. and was apparently much enjoyed, judging from the letter from a little Syrian orphan__ boy. which was enclosed with Mrs. Kerr’s letter. ENTERTAINS A® BRIDGE Mrs. R. E. Wenzel entertained at bridge last evening: at her home on Park Street. Thfee tables of bridge were Tn play. Honors were won by Marjorie Best and Miss Chrissie Budge. PRESENT CANTATA IN DRISCOLL On invitation from the Driscoll Lutheran church, the. choir of Trin- ity English Lutheran church went to Driscoll Sunday afternoon and there presented the cantata, “The Forty-Second Psalm,” and other numbers, to a very appreciative au- dience filling the community hall to its capacity. The solos and quartet parts of the cantata were sung by: Mrs. W. J. Targart, soprano; Mrs, T. G. Plomasen, alto; Fred Hanson, tenor; and Roy Indseth, ‘baritone.
