There also was gossip that a promin- ent exporter would issue a statement outlining notably bullish views re- garding world supply and demand conditions. : The opening, which varied from unchanged figures to 3-4 cents lower with May $1.77 3-4 to $1.78 1-8 and July $1.52 1-4 to 1-2 were followed by a slight general setback and then by a rise that in some cases went nearly two cents above yesterday's finish.
