. : r ; J TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER. 23, 1924 ace 8S Social and Personal | Women Voters To Hold First Meeting Monday The local unit of the Leauge of Women Voters will hold their tirst meeting this fall on Monday, Sept. 29, at the high school audi- torium, to which the public is in- vited. Miss Minnie J. Nielson - will speak on the history of the poli- tical Hea to the present time; R. Parkes, regional direc- "ihe League, will be present, and will discuss the meeting. Mrs. Parkes has just attended the state board meeting held at Grand Forks, and will be able to give an interesting report on the progresa | of the League. Mrs. Parkes was here in June completing the or- ganization of the unit here. A musical program is being ar- ranged by Mrs. Frank Barnes and Mrs. J. L. Bankston, Mrs. G. ¥. Dullam, president of the League here, will preside at the meeting. The League of Women Voters is non-political, and women of all parties throughout the country have affiliated with it. A number of the women in Bismarck have expressed themszlves as being very much in favor of its educa- tional program. Men and women. of any party, are invited to attend the mesting Monday. BRIDE-TO-BE HONORED Miss Frances Johnson, who will be married this week to Earl Nord- lund, was the complimented guest last night at a miscellaneous show- er, Mrs. C. J. Johnson being the hostess, entertaining at the home of Mrs. L. LaRue. Eighteen guests were present, and sewing and cards furnished -entertainment for the evening. Mrs. W. Sandy received the first prize for sewing while Mrs. W. F.-Gettleman won the high score h was served at mid- left °, this and Forks, where the marriage will take place the latter part of this week. YEOMEN LODGE MEETS The Brotherhood of American Yeo- men, lodge 503 will hold their regu- lar meeting tonight at 8 o'clock in the A. 0. U. W. hall. There will be nomination and election of offi- cers for the coming year. Mem- bers of the degree team should en- deavor to be present. Refreshments will be served. A general good time is anticipated, and all members are urged to be present. TO HARVARD ‘Franzo Crawford left Sunday. and will be a fellow at Harvard University this year, doing re- search work in physics. He was awarded the fellowship last year, while he was a member of the pecully, of Northwestern Univer- sity. LEAVE FOR DICKINSON TODAY Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Crawford will leave today for their home in Dickinson, after having been here for some time as the guests of Mr. Crawford’s brother a ister-in- law, Mr, and Mrs. L. I. Crawford. Rev. Hugh H. Owen of the Mandan Presbyter- ian church officiated at the cere- mony, witnessed by intimate friends and the members of the family. There were no attendants. After the wedding dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Churchill left by automobile for Milaea, Minn., where they will spend the week.
