TUESDAY, AUGUST’ 19, -1924 Loui People Are Stirred By 5 Badlands Beauty New and unexpected heautips were found in the Badlands by Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Wehe, who have returned from a ten days automobile tour in North Dakota and Montana. Mr, Wehe made the survey in part be- cuuse the Lions club of this city, of which he is president! has beer urging creation of a national park in the Badlands. Leaving Bismarck ‘they avove up the Killdeer lineto Killdeer and « Oakd¥le, thence back to Killdeer and around the south side of the alle ‘deer mountains to near Grass Butte. From there they went pout to near Watford City, at Arnegard and Alexande then struck the Badlands 16 miles south of Alexander. They|found a new \ petrified forest, smafler than the one near Medora, 27 miles south of Alexander, From there they went on the west side of the Little Mis- souri to Wibaux and Glendive, along the Yellowstone. At Glendive they were joined by SLR Chris- tiani, Mrs, We ’ ,» and Mr. Christiani, and visited a pine forest south of Glendive, also to the Bad- lands Creek where they, found sev- eral agates. The Christianis accom- panied them back to the Medorq country. An especially beautiful canyon was found “four miles north- east of Fryburg, Mr, Wehe said. It is known as Gadae canyon... They visit- ed the old Roosevelt Chimney Butte ranch.
