Colors harmonize not ‘only by like ness: but by contrast. For instance, the primary triad o1 yellow, red and blue makes a har- ménious conbination, yet there is a closer relationship between yellow and red, the warm, bright colors, than between yellow. and blue, a javarm and a ‘cold color. Yellow has been found to be the mest congenial color in the whole Various shades of this color can be combined to make a harmoni- cus background. But certain colors'in which there is a tint of yellow and a greater amount af blue donot combine well with other colors in which more yel- lpw and less blue are mixed . For example, olive is a\ shade of green, in which: blue and yellow fare the basic colors. Green is a mix- titre of equal amount of blue and yellow. Yet green and olive do not harmonize. Blue Is Touchy On. the other hand, any colors in which yellow and red are basic may be combined with perfect surety that a harmonious background will be ob- tained. The reason for’ this’ is that both yellow and red are warm colors and a card party Saturday 8:30. evening at BUSINESS VISITORS FROM MOFFIT Mr, C. E. Yellow, therefore, is the predom nating and controlling link in color combinations. Various shades of it can be used together and still make a harmonious whole.
