Mrs. A. G. Jacobson was a former resident of this city. Mrs. A. G. Ja- cobson of Bemidji, Minn formerly corresponding seergtary of the federation in this state spoke briefly, telling of the beginnings of the organization and tracing the ac- complishments from that time five years ago when the nucleus for the present state society was formed. Mrs, Frank Barnes, soprano, of Bismarck, sang “Se Saren Rose,” by lovely, voice, and a double Gently” O' Mine” by Walt, and “The Woodpecker” by Nevin. In the group were Mrs. G. E. Wingreene, Mrs. J. A. Mrs. F. J.’ Bavendick, all of matck, and Mrs. Clyde Travis, Mrs. John Knauf, and Mrs. J. E. Camp- bell, all of Jamestown, Mrs. A. J. Arnot aecompanied the singers, ENTERTAIN DEBATING TEAM Dr. and Mrs. A. A. Whittemore and family entertained the Bowman De- bating team and toach yesterdby af: tesnoon and-evening at their dome, 714 Second Street. The team deba' ed the Mandan team last evening and were defeated by the Mandan debators, The team was composed of Elmer Heyde, Ruth Burke, Ina Ware and the coach, Miss Brugaker. The were alsé guests at the F, E. home, and visited at the high U. C. T. AUXILIARY A regular meeting of the U. C. T. Auxiliary will be held this evening in Elk’s Hall following the Annual banquet which will be held at the Grand Pacific hotel, this evening for all U. C. T. members and their wives or friends. A good attendance has been assured the committee and at the regular meeting of the Auxiliary, initiation will be held and dancing will follow the meeting. GOES TO MANDAN Among those going to Mandan to- day on No. 1 to accompany James G. McFarland, grand exalted ruler of the Elks was J, C. Taylor of this city, a personal friend of McFarland. Mr. Taylor was a former resident of Watertown previous to his transfer to this city. “MOVE TO CITY Mr. and Mrs. H. C, Holmes have recently moved to Wing, where: Mr. Holmes has been transferred to have charge of the Singer Sewing Machine Offices;in that town, Mr. Holmes has been, associatedewith the Singer offices in this city for some ‘time. AT FARGO Miss Bertha Palmer has been in Fargo the past few days. attending the Southeastern Teachers’ Associa- tion, which met in that city, Thurs- day and Friday. Miss Palmer ap- peared on the program and attended to other business affaits while there. VISITS WITH FRIENDS Mrs. Frank Barnes stopped off in Fargo on her way home from Grand Forks and is visiting at the home of Mr, and Mrs,,D. E. Shipley. Entertain Boys” The boys of the Junior department of the Presbyterian Sunday school enjoyed a banquet in the church parlors last evening at 6 o'clock, All the good things that go to make up a banquet were served the boys in- cluding ice cream and cake. The ta- bles were decorated with lighted candles and tulips. Following the banquet a short program was enjoyed which includ- ed mu numbers and a very in teresting talk by J. J..MacLeod. Clell Gannon, a teacher in this department of the Sunday school gave a hu- morous chalk talk which brought forth much hearty applause from the boys. EAST CHARITY BALL Plans are now completed for the holding of the Seventh Annual Char- Ball by the Catholic Daughters of America on Monday evening, April 21. A large attendance is assured by the advance sale of tickets, which is in the hands of the members of the organization. A number of out of town guests plan to be present at this annual dancing party, Tie roads being in excellent conditYon will permit a large attendance from Mandan and other surrounding towns.
