Congratulations Kiwanians It is a great pleasure and a personal privi- | lege as president of the City Commission of Bismarck to extend greetings to the Bis- marck Kiwanis upon the occasion of their initiation into a great organization of community workers. Kiwanis is an instrumentality in the improvement of the individual, the upbuilding of the community and — the promotion of good will between men and nations. I am happy to be able to testify from personal con- tact with and observation of Kiwanis here in my own. community that it is a substantial community asset and ——"" MONDAY, OCTOB Bismarck Now on Kiwanis Map Kiwanis is.an infant organization if meas- ured merely in terms of years, but it is big in servcie, dedicated to a most impressive . program and committed to a philosophy that has impressed itself upon the consciousness of the ‘public as has few other organizations. Upon this occasion when the local club is to receive its charter and be formally a part of a world wide move- ment, as president I desire to welcome visiting Kiwan- ians who are here to start us officially along the Kiwan- ian highway of community service. Kiwanis is pledged to promote the best in the city and state endeavors and to inculcate those ideals:in which this great nation was conceived. Its constantaim in Bismarck will be to impress upon its members the. necessity to build right upon the foundations “ ethical . oot i conduct and personal service. A. P. LENHART, g j : SCOTT CAMERON, President Bismarck City Cqmmission. President Bismarck Kiwanis. I rejoice with all fellow Kiwanians upon this occasion. What Kiwanis Means to Entire Community of Bismarck Its constant endeavor to impress upon its members the need and the value of ethical soiaines in their hasicinan wii their profession is one of its great- est contributions to society. Such clubs have limited memberships and’make their selections from the various and varied vocations in their community. The average club is thus truly representative of the commercial life of its particular territory. The man ais to represent a given activity is taught that his duty has not ended when he has introduced into his own business or practice the.ideals of service, honor and honesty. He must be.an ambassa- dor back to others engaged in his field of endeaver and lend his active influence to elevating the ethics ‘and standards of all commercial intercourse. In its plainest definition, this phase of the program of the service club is but a practical application of the principle laid down i in the Goldén Rule many generations ago. Properly speaking the Kiwanis Club or any of its kind records its greatest accomplishments within the man who is the member. Its fellowship warms him and -wins him away from the cold, unsympathetic atmosphere which a self-centered business career generates. It renews ‘his youth, réeanimates him with the high-im- pulses which were his when young, breeds anew in him a faith in the efficacy of high ideals, broadens his vision-by. lifting his « eyes and teaches him a true concep- tion of the real values of life. It must then be something like a religion, you say? ‘It Has been called just that. At enw it is a Sine, understandable, workable philos- ophy and one which cannot but besiefit the community i in which it is preached and practiced. es ee a UY aaa || Kiwanis is at the Community’s Service for all Worthy Movements for the Upbuilding of the Nation the State ¢ and the Ci a Sy:
