In 1922 the Soo Line took in from operations a lit- tle more than forty-seven million dollars. It paid out over thirty-nine and one-half millions (84 per cent of what was taken in) for labor, materials and taxes— over six millions (13 per cent of what was taken in) for interest on Bonds and Notes—altogether NINETY- SEVEN CENTS OUT OF EVERY DOLLAR EARNED.
