{ | SAYS PRIMARY LAWSWERENOT TRANSGRESSED Attorne} General Johnson Is- , gues Statement Regarding - Recent Enjoinment : pee BSN That the Jamestown convention did not transgress the primary laws of North Dakota is the statement of Attor- ney General Johnson made in discussing the recent attempt, to enjoin certain members of several parties from ‘com- dining forces. ‘The primary law did not destroy the right of assembly, a right the Anglo Saxon people have claimed and. defend- ed with their lives from time immemori- al,” declared Mr. Johnson in discussing the signing of the order by Judge Lowe of Minot; “the primary law did not take away from citizens the right to discuss political or public issues in assembly, or to pass any resolutions, either as to men or measures, the assembled citizens might see fit to enact; the primary law did not take away from any group of citizens the right to endorse for public or political office any person or per. sons and to express confidence in their fitness and integrity. The Jamestown convention did these things and ‘no " more.” Mr. Johnson admitted in his statement that’ the Jamestown conventions “did discuss political issues and did recom- mend to the voters certain candidates for office.” STORES CLOSE FOR HALF DAY Four Announce punce Closing One Afternoon Each Week eae eee ; Webb Bros.
