From there ‘they will be taken in autoes to. the lake. ‘The advance party will leave here Saturday morning., The following articles are neces- sary to the boys who are going camp- ing on Lake Isabel: 2 Sweater, jersey, bathing suit, change of underwear, 2 pairs of socks, running pants, running shoes, hand- kerchiefs, 2 pair woolen blankets, bath towel, soap, comb, brush, tooth- brush and paste, needle and thread, buttons, safety pins, pajamas, stamp- ed envelopes and writing paper, poc- ket knife, ball and glove, small sized Bible, musical instruments. Thursday morning Richholt school was the recipient of two beautiful tro- phies won in basket ball and the track meet. (Mr. McLeod presided jn the gymna- sium where all the students were as- sembled. Mr. Knowles presented the Knowles Shield to the basket ball team, which will belong to the school as long as they can win it. Mr. Cameron presented the- silver loving cup to the school for winning the track meet. He explained that the cup had been won not by numbers or special advantages, but by hard work, plenty of pep, and support from the girls, = Messrs. Cameron, Webb, Murphy and Rosen represented the Elks who haq_ offered the cup to the winners. Mr. Murphy also represented the Knights of Columbus, who gave the prizes to..the- individual winners of the track meet. Herman Milde re- ceived a pair of baseball socks for having the highest number of points in Grade C. Balser Klein was given a baseball bat on which was written “from Babe Ruth,” for winning hon- ors in Grade D. Each of the boys in the relay race were given a pifize that was dear to his heart. Fred Landers received a ball bat, Balser Klein a base ball, Tracy Nelson baseball socks, Gordon Landers baseball socks, Ernest Benser baseball socks, Perry Nelson a baseball, Sieney Rigler ten- nis balls, and Elmer ssenser tennis balls, After each presentation the pupils cheered for the winners and the speakers, When all honors had been awarded the entire school sang the Richholt songs “I’m Forever Boosting Richolt,” a parody on “Bubbles,” writ- ten by Lloyd ,Knudson of the sixth grade, and “Richolt Will Shine To night.” = Besides winning the Knowles shield and the Elks’ loving cup, Richholt school has won many other honors during the year. ‘Last fall the football team won every game it played. No prize was offered, but the honor looked bigger than the prize to the players. Aside from athletics the Richholt school have children who can do other things. Ernest Benser of the seventh grade won first prize in the library , campaign for collecting the most books and magazines of any in- dividual child in the- city. Then, when the Women’s Commun- ity Council offered prizes for the best free hand Health Posters, the Rich- holt artists got busy with the result that Gayhart Patera of the sixth rade won the first prize. - The girls have helped the boys in every way possible, and when the boys were on the field, the girls ed untiringly. ran of ail, but vequally import: ant. the girls of the seventh grade tied in bundles the three tons of magazines left over from the library drive, and then sold them for a good sum. The money thus accumulated will be used either for playground ap- paratus or the beginning of a li- rary in the building. ui This year has indeed been a suc: cessful one for the 1:-chholt school. It is a brilfant beginning for a now ek er le o—: DAD SPEAKS: Son—Pop, what’s oblivion mean? | married. Pop—Getting. school, but we predict each succeed- }ing year to be just as vrilliant.
