D., June 1.—A_ two- year-old purebred ‘Holstein bull will be the prize won by ahe township kill- ing the greatest number of gophers in the “Cavalier County Gopher Day” contest to be held by suggestion of County Agent W. L. Johns Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. The bull is one of the finest of the J. D. Bacon and Son herdh at Grand Forks, and was practically donated to stimulate interest in the contest. It had been Mr. Johns’ intention to pur- chase a calf, as the amount contribut- ed by banks of the county for the pur. chase of the prize amounted to about $100, a sum too small to secure any purebred animal, except a calf. An arrangement was made with the Ba- con farm, however, and a two-year- old animal, considered worth from $500 to $1,000 was secured for the -hun- dred dollars, Tn every 1,000 people in the world there are with dark brown hair, 260 with light brown, 81 with flaxon, 52 with black and 22 with red hair.
