Bismarck, Carson, TRACK, FIELD MEETING FOR DICKINSON Schools of Slope Country and Few East of Missouri River Are Invited’ EIGHT ate Dickinscn, N. D., schools have indicated that they will be represented in the first track and field meet to b2@ held under the aus- pices of the Dickinson Normal School here, May 12th and President S. T. May is confident that other schools will be represented when the actual competition begins. ‘The invitation to take part went out’ to the schools of the Slope country and ‘to a. few of the schools just east of the Missouri Ri- ver. Schools that have intimated that they expéct to take part in either the track and field meet or the declama- tory cortest in the evening include Mott, Hettinger, Beach, Belfield, Taylor and. Dickinson. Becauge Dickinson is located almoat in ‘the center of the Slope District, most of these schools will find it possible to make the trip by automo- bile. Many of the sciiools, in fact, will find this the most convenient way to reach here because of lack of. North and South transportation: The events contested.will he: 100 yard dash. Shot Put. Pole Vault, 220 yard dash. Running broad jump. 120 yard high hurdles. 880 yard run. Running ‘high jump. 220 yard ‘hurdles. Javelin throw. 440 yard dash. Discus throw. , Mile run. % 880 yard relay race. Points will be counted, five for first place in an event, three for second znd one for third, The winning school will receive a cup or banner and the athlete winning the most points will receive a medal, as will the athletes winning plaCes in ‘the different events.
