D., April 4.—Wash- burn high school holds the basketball championship of McLean county. In the first game of the McLean tournament Washburn defeated her old rivals, Wilton, ‘by a score of 21 to 20. Northrop, president emeritus of the University of Minnesota, died sudden- ly trom heart disease at 5 p.m. yester- day. Dr. Northrop was sitting in an easy chair at home when }- died. He had been feeling well all day, except for an attack of indigestion shortly after luncheon at noon, until the fatal seigure ten minutes before the end came. Dr. H. S.
