The new price of the. powerful, easy-1iding Overland touring car, which oy shear merit of , economy, ity and comfort has attained a inant place in the light car field, is $550, One year ago, this car sold for $1085. ‘ This is an additional, reduction since the reduction of 42 per cent re- corded from September 1920 to, Sep tember 1921, a total reduction of 47 per cent in a year and a_ half, the most radical reduction in motor car prices in the history of the automo- bilo industry. In 1916, the Overiana sold for $615, a price that was thought could never be bettered. Today it is $115 lower. The WillysKnight touring car is now listed at $1375 a further reduction of $150 since the startling reduction of 34 per cent last September, a total ‘reduction of 40 per cent in a year and a half. These new prices were made possi- é ble by remarkable economies in manu- facturing methods, the consumption of high-priced matertal inventories, the / practical total elimination of obliga- tions for high-priced materials, the cperation of a new, more progressive and more economical marketing plan, and lastly, the hearty cooperation in the plan to build more cars per man each day, by every employee,/in the four plants the company operates. These new prices place Overfand and Willys-Knight cars in the ; front price rani in their classes. For the pest year and a half, thé fecords of these cars have proved their ecdnomy, quality, performance and comfpft. The new prices and those of Sep- tember 1920 follow: Overland chassis $450, formerly $885; ‘touring $550, formerly $1035; a \ CN roadster $550, formerly $1035; coupe $850, formerly $1525; sedan $895, for- merly $1675, Willys-Knight Roadster $1350, for- merly $2300; touring $1375, formerly $2300; coupe $1875, formorly $2950; sedan $2095, formerly $3050; chassis $1100, All prices are f. 0. b. This engine has given. to the Willys- Knight car the slogan, “Its Motor Im- proves with Use.” If itis as. “Good as The: New York Life” it is all right. B. E. on Phone 915. P. 0. Box « Dance every. WE TELL YOU, BEFORE WE START THE WORK WHAT IT WILL COST We have worked out the “flat rate system” on four makes of automobiles. On these four cars we can tell you exactly what it will cost to perform most any repair from relining a brake to a complete overhaul. ‘If you.were to take your car'to the Factory that manufactured it, you would pay on the same basis as we charge. We use genuine factory parts, furnished by the Factory that built your car, and we guarantee our. work. In order to adopt this flat rate system, we have installed new machinery and special tools for thes? cars, making it possible to get work out faster and: better. In one case, we have cut down. an operation from eight hours to one hour and forty minutes. We are applying this flat rate system to a great many operations on various makes'of cars, and expect soon to use the flat rate system on all standard cars; but only on four makes are we at this time ina position to handle practically every operation on the flat rate system. To substan- tiate his contention he pointed first to the car and then to three closely type- written pages on’which some of these imprpvements were‘ listed. |; “The automotive industry deserves a lot of credit for, the way it is’ go ‘ing after the price question,” said -Mr. Gilman. “Iam not referring to,Dodge ‘Brothers alone, ‘even though J be- lieve they have done more’ than their share, but to the industry’as a_whole, tt manufacturers: and retailers ‘in ‘all other lines, had taken similar attitude the -public would have. been. disabused of the profiteering idea long ago. and nofmal basis much. sooner. Ini justice to’ one of the half dozen leading in- dustries of the nation it should re- ceive credit for this policy. In many instances it is said to have brought the cost of the 1922 car down to the Price level of 1914, which is more than cen be said for the vast majority of | industries. 4 “The fact is particularly upsetting | to the average man already owning a car because, every chop in the price of a new model of the make he drives means a ‘straight proportionate, in- escapable’ reduction in the value of his used car.
