PAGETWO -| THE BISMARCK TRIBUNE =” over the evil’ effects of the political theories of the nonpartisan league. County after county in convention assembled voted against a recall. The election to be held next Friday has been forced} upon the people in spite of a majority of the In- dependents who have always been opposed to . Townleyism in all its sinister aspects. The Devils; Lake convention ignored public sentiment and the politicians had their way. The Tribune stands upon its original decision today as firmly as it did last winter when every move of the I. V. A. managers was planned to precipitate a recall election whether the people willed it or not. The Tribune refused then and refuses now to be stampeded into the support of a movement it) believed was wrong last spring and still believes to be wrong. Because political manipulation has plunged the state into a fight none but the self interested politicians wanted there is no ‘logical reason why The Tribune or any honest opponent of the recall should swallow the dose. The advocates of the recall are not wasting| much time defending their program upon the stump. In its various aspects, the I. V. A. pro- gram is a sorry piece of political expediency. ‘There is no enthusiasm for these theories of the political doctrinaires—a veritable tissue of “isms” _upon which the I. V. A. propose to restore eco- nomic stability in North Dakota. Anyone who studies the I. V.
