Welch of, Mandan was initiated “as the first white member ‘of Arikara Indians last Friday night at a big ceremonial attendant to the dedication of a new hall for the soci- ety.a few miles from the site of old ‘Fort Berthold and the Indian village. Over a thousand Indians, the rem- nants of the once numerous Man- n, Gros Ventre sand Arikara tribes, attended the services.
