THURSDAY, AUGUST 25,-1921 TENNISSTARS TO MEET HERE IN TOURNAMENT: Country Club Play Will Continue Over Labor Day with Many Matches On The Bismarck Country Club will hold a tennis tournament commencing! Saturday, September 3, and continuing until all matches are completed. This will include Monday, the 5th, Labor Day, which is a legal holiday in this state. tournaments will be run at the same time. | The western North Dakota cham- pionship consisting, of men’s singles and doubles and women’s singles and doubles is the open event and is open to all comers. The Missouri Slope Championship men’s ingles doubles open to residents of the Slope counties and the Bismarck City! Championships, men’s and women’s| singles and doubles, open to all resi-! dents of Bismarck. For the Western’ North Dakota and Missouri Slope the entry fee is $1.00 for sin-} and $1 for each player in doubles, $1.00 fee will cover both tourna- | ments. For the City Championships no! is charged but players must S A large out-of-town en-| try list is expected—players from Jamestown, New Leipzig, Hazen, Wil- ton, Washburn and other nearby cities have signified their intention of play- ing. Preference in the use of the courts for matches will, of course, be} given the out-of-town players. The Country Club dining room will be available for the players wishing to! take their meals near the courts and the showers and dressing rooms will be turned over to the visitors. All entries should be made to Mr. G. H. Russ, Jr., chairman of the tennis com- mittee by Friday night, the 2nd. The) drawings will be made that evening at the club house at 8 o’clock. Several social affairs are being planned for the entertainment of the viistors and it is expected that it will be the big- gest tennis event held in Bismarck for several years. The western North Dakota and Mis- souri Slope titles were sanctioned and awarded to the Bismarck club several} years ago and some of the best play-i ers in the north central west have played for them in Bismarck in past years. The committee hopes that there will be an especially large entry in the city events—players whether members of the club or not are urged to enter. There is nothing better than tournament play to develop. one’s game—beginners especially benefit by the experience, and are cordially invit- ed to take part in this tournament.
