PAGE SIX a THE BISMARCK TRIBUNB FRIENDS PAY LAST TRIBUTE T0 PIONEER Funeral Services For Gottlieb Huber Are Held This Afternoon Gottlieb David Huber was born in Niederehofen, Wurtemburg, Geremany, on November 3d, 1861. He came to Bismarck, N. D, in 1881, where he pur- chased the first piece of land broken ‘in Burleigh County. He was married November 6, 1884 to Anna Marie Seem- ‘an, To this union were born seven children; Six daughters—-Marie, Anna, Rose, Christine, Dorothy and Louise,‘ and one son—Christian—all of whom survive. 'His death occurred in Min- neapolis July 1, 1921. Ipterment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetéy be- ‘side the comrade of his life Mrs. Huber having died June 2, 1918. ‘ (Mr. Huber was a member of the German Lutheram Church and of the Knights of Pythias. He was a good -father, a kind and reliable friend and an honest citizen. Mr. Huber was a gardener by pro- fession and an expert in his line. Many medals and certificates of Honor from world fairs bespeak the magic he ‘wrought with plant Hfe in Dakota. The Funeral’ service was in the ‘Methodist Church. Rev. Quigley con- ducted the service. The music was rendered by Meesdames Tracy and ‘Couger and Messrs Haverson and Humphrey. The pallbearers were: O. W. Roberts, R. L. Best, Chas. Wach- ‘ter, Shed Lambert, John Maasen and W. A. Falconer. : In the passing: of Mr. Huber, Bis-' marck has lost another pioneer. MINOT NURSE TS DROWNED -| worked for several years. ‘Minot, 'N. D. July 5. 5.—Rose Ahern 19-year-old nurse in training at St Joseph's ‘hospital, was drowned whiie -bathing in the Mouse river with Orpha ‘Frank and Marie Volk, also nurses in training.at the same institution. = Orpha Frank had a narrow escape, being in the water several minutes sbefore Clarence Johnson, who lives nearby, swam across the river to where she was and rescued her. + Marie Volk went under water once trying to save the two girls, but-final- ‘Jy’ grasped a'spring board and saved herself. She gave the alarm which summoned Johnson:and the fire department, while}, -Miss Frank was being revived by arti- ficial respiration. Firemen recovered the hody of Miss Ahern in 15 feet of water. and the pulmotor was used ini- mediately. © ¢ When the pulmotor failed to bring her back ‘she was taken to the -hos- pital and when other efforts failed Dr. L. J. Devitie operated on her to mas- sage the heart by hand as a last re- sort. Miss Ahern's home is in Berthold, Miss Volk'’s at Rugby, and Miss Frank's at Plaza. * HOLD COUPLE FILLED WITH ~ FEVOR, INSANE Dickinson, N,: D., . D. July 6.—Mr. -and Mrs. Algernon Marson of New Eng- : land, who were adjudged insane in the Hettinger county court on June 23, were taken to the state hospital at Jamestown last week. Their three- year-old baby was. taken to Fargo the same day by Juvenile Commissioner, Walter Saterland, and placed in the Children’s Home, The Marsons were taken in charge by officials after neighbors had com- plained that they were starving them- selves and neglecting their child. Ine vestigation revealed the fact that both Marson and his wife had espoused the doctrines of a freak religious sect. “The Invisible Church of Christ,” while living in California some four years ago. The head of the church, they de clared, was a colored woman living in Los Angeles and its tenets forbade them doing any work.
