Absence of rain was noticed. Besides Kansas authorities gave out figures indicating a reduction of 142,- 000 acres in the harvest for that state. Opening quotations which ranged from 1-4 to 2 1-2 cents higher were followed by moderate ‘urther tighten- ing up of values.
