LAW VIOLATIONS State Department to Distribute Placard Over the q State Many stock salesmen in North Da- kota are wholly disregarding the “blue sky” law in selling stock in North Dakota. Because of receipt of numerous complaints to this effect a warning has been printed by the state banking board to be posted in the variuos postoffices of the state. “The “blue sky” law makes the sale of stocks, bonds or investment con- tracts. or other securities without first obtaining a permit from the state banking board a felony punishable on conviction by a fine of not less than $500 nor more than $5,000, or impris- onment of from one to ten years. “The public is cautioned to ascer- tain that the company or corporation whose stocks, bonds, investment con- tracts or other securities are being offered for sale, have a permit frqm this department and that the person offering same for sale has in his pos- session an agent's permit issued to him fer the current year from this department, the same being stamped for the year for which it is issued and the company or corporation represen- ted,” says the circular prepared by. O. E. Lofthus, secretary of the board. Agents’ permits are good for but one year and the agent must show the permit at the time of selling stock, the secretary says.
