S) ray ba » Mrs. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1920 p Se eek pa TRIBUNE MUSICAL CLUBS HAVE INTERESTING PROGRAM, FOR FEDERATION HERE, COUNTRY CLUB BANQUET BIG FEATURE “The biggest work of the musical clubs in North Dakota at the present time is to work in the high schools for full qredits for musical work tak- en there,” said Mrs. J.’H. Stapleton, delegate from the National Federatitin of Music clubs to the North Dakota Federation of Music clubs, which inct here today. “There is too big a break in music work when the student leaves the grades,” continued Mrs. Stapleton. “We must endeavor to have the work continued in the high school, and grant proper credit for it so that it will be worth while to register there for musical courses.” ‘ “America’s big great money, has made us overlook the fine arts the past few years, hence educational work along music* lines ‘has not been given proper attention,” emphasized the speaker. “We must wake up to our responsibility.” Mrs. Stapleton then spoke of the splendid work of the various state musical contests directed to encour- age the younger artists. Mrs. Staple- ton has been president of the Wis- consin Federation of Music clubs for the past seven years and has done work which has brought her national distinction.
