Courtenay, June 25.—Preaching the rospel of American government and true administration for the farmers aud businessmen of the state, Attorney General William Langer, Senator A. J. Gronna, Attorney R. A. Nestos and Attorney Sever Serumgard yesterday invaded the strongest districts of the Nonpartisanism in the state. Every- where were meetings attended by crowds of unexpected magnitude and everywhere was the membership of crowds largely Nonpartisan. At Flutos Grove located four miles east of Cooperstown, in Griggs county, at least 3,000 people had gathered for a picnic. Mr. Serumgard, although not billed to speak, waded into condi- tions in this state, and declared that A. E. Bowen and Townley had person- ally admitted to him that they had ven up hope of ever getting any ere in North Dakota under the name of socialism, and so adopted the Nonpartisan league. A. Nestos ,in his brief address, said, “We of Minot may have had a difference of opinion on the governor- ship but today we are back of Langer to a man. J know you folks are not socialists, but I trust you will awake to the fact that you are ‘fast. becoming socialists.” He quoted from the pamphlet of the Industrial Workers of the World showing that they claimed credit for the seizure of the state administra- tion by Townley. He quoted from the New York Call, which said, “Whether they knew it or not they are social- ists.” radical of Nestos turned to his audience to see’ how they liked it and the audi- ence registered its disapproval. Mr. Nestos took up the absent vot- er’s law, the smelling committee measure, and the state sheriff law, and explained to the big audience the iniquities of them and urged that the audience accept Judge Robinson's de- cision and vote an emphatic “No” on these three. measures and then~reg- ister their Americanism by voti' emphatic ard unanimous “Yes” on the red flag bill. It treats humorously of Prohibjtion. The orig- inal story was by Holworty Hall and Hugh Kahler. Mr. Washburn has the roie of Hen- ry Carpenter, member of an_ esclus- ive set of young married couples whose pride is their, well stocked cellars. Henry runs short just on the eve of a big party at which he is host. Re- ceiving word from his Aunt Virginia, a staunch ‘Prohibitionist, that several cases of liquor have been stored in he cellar: by an errant half-brother, now departed, Requested to destroy them, Henry removes the precious stuff to his own house, At the last moment he dis- covers that the bottles are empty, To save h face at the dinner, he Jaunche King Alcohol. into a fierce speech against The Prohibition els- ment in the town welcomes him and wants to run him for congress. But word comes from the aunt of another store of liquor discovered in the cel- lar. This time the bottles are full.
