After the first, Bismarck rally it printed a glowing account of the great crowds present. When the league “ratification meeting” was held at Fargo it denounced those who said the crowd was small. ROBBERS MAKE LIQUOR HAUL Chicago, Tinie 18.- 1 - Robbers stole 750 cases and 38 barrels of whiskey, estimated to be worth $150000, frow a liquor store house early today. They bound the night-watchman and put him in the cellar, After three hours confinement he worked himself loose and notified the police. COMMERCE CLUB WILL \ PROVIDE CAMPAIGN SITE (Continued from Page One) be sure will work for our interests if you have anything that will mak« Bismarck a bigger and better, town to live in you can be sure they wil ve glad to help. But the main thing. depends on you and not on the direct ors. You niust assist not only to ¢ for the financial end but more import ant are your persone! etforts.” That the bridge would not be in immediate prospect if it were not for the club was the statement of C. L Young, president of the club. “The efforts of Burleigh county, the highway commission, of Morton coun- ty, and its commissioners and all the other various officers connected with the state and counties would have been unavailing were it not for the work of the Mandan and Bismarck Commercial clubs, who for a period of threé years worked incessantly to make this bridge a reality. Little Things Count “The Commercial club was an in- dispensable factor in starting the building of the bridge. But aside of the big things which everybody] knows, there are the many little things which ip reality constitute the city’s growth, “The little things which arise are the things which count mostly in the lives of business men. The other day a man had refused to contribute to the budget fund called up for some information and. we gave it to him. And no suggestion was made that he ought to donate or anything else, we simply gave him his information. But it is these things which make the Gommercial club a real-beneficial or- ganization. Mr. Young spoke on the subject of criticism, saying that there were peo- ple in this town who were not law- yers and inferred they knew more ot law than a lawyer and there are pco- ple who are not physicians who claim to know more than a doctor. He said {criticism must be expected. There jhad been crriticism that the Bismarck Commercial club was becoming too democratic, he stated. In speaking of this further, he told of a man who had written an article on the industrial situation today, in | which he said that the people had lost their faith in each other and instead of helping solve the problems were only knocking. Must Get together The best way to over-come this, Mr. Young stated, is to get together every once in a while and get acquainted with each other—to rub elbows, and (then the knobs in the other man would soon give way to a pleasant and pro- , fitable understanding. “Bismarck today offers more op- portunities to develop than practically all other cities in the state and yet we have not made our best efforts to develop them,” he said. “A town doesn’t altogther take care of itself; every effort must be made to aid in its development, especially nowadays when competition is so. strong.” Dr. Rawlings introduced the sub- jects of a park system which was also referred to the directors. W. E. Lahr was the first to second the tourist camp site suggestion. WEATHER REPORT For twenty-four hours ending at noon June 18. Temperature at 7 a. m.. Highest yesterday .. Lowest yesterday .
